Finalist of 'Sangue Novo'
Inspired by today's addiction to social media,
which could easily be considered a fundamental characteristic of my generation. A generation that values documenting someone's life more than actually living it.
It reflects a plastic happiness and bears a never-ending competition of posts and tweets. My self-esteem is measured in likes and I hand it over to total stranger
and virtual passers-by. This is how standardised beauty standards erase identities and transform us in a true army of dolls. #memyselfieandi satirizes the obsession
of the selfie, which while it might seem narcissistic,
it actually has the paradoxical and perverse purpose
of pleasing the other. This collection and its (self)
critical values are intended to be the collective alarm
of a liberating consciousness.
